D Company, 7th Marines, Korea Fall 1952

The "Gunny" (Foreground) was in charge of the attachments to the 3rd Platoon. With attachments, we had about 100 in the platoon at times. This photo was probably taken by 2ndLt Jim Clifton. I believe the name of the Gunny was Tatz.
The Gunny disappeared on me from the line for a couple of days. He returned with a new .50 caliber over his shoulder that he had taken from an Army 6X to replace a very worn out .50 we had on line.

3rd Platoon CP 1952, on MLR behind Reno-Vegas.
It never took a direct hit but had several scars. This was the temporary home of Lt Rochford, SSgt Moynihan (WIA), Sgt Handing (KIA), PFC Justice (KIA) and PFC Walker (WIA), replaced later by Cpl Flanagan (WIA). Oh, and two large rats.

I believe sitting is John Lowe. In the middle, Russell Bishop and ... unknown.
Bishop was temporarily XO and then Lowe came in as XO.
Bishop, I think, took over the 1st Platoon around Nov/Dec 1952
