Comments: hi, i found the site and read and cried. on this new year, i called to wish my parents a happy new year. Dad is 73. i told him what i was doing by printing and saving the stories and messages and lives for my grandchildren. he told me that WWII are passing at 1000 per day. There is so little time to save it all. The light of freedom shines bright in 2001 due to the sacrifices of all our servicemen, my son included.

Comments: My Uncle Albert Avenetti is a member of "Dog" 2/7. I'm a great admirer of Marines who have molded the heritage we so richly treasure in today's Marine Corps. My Uncle is one of those I greatly admire as well as my father also a former Marine (AM-TRACKER) The impact was so great that not only did I join the Corps but so did my two younger brothers one a CWO3 just like me (except he's a boot). I've been in the Corps just over 20 years and find myself more than ever in search of information on you great Americans who have sacraficed so much for our country. I'm intrigued by the unbeleivable fighting spirit of the Korean veteran. God Bless you all.

I would like to comple a F.M.F. cookbook for us, But I am having a hard time finding cooks and bakers. I sent e-mail to Sgt. Comments: Served with 7th Marines AntiTank Co July '51-July'52and was attached to one of the Dog Co platoons as a gunner on a 75MM Recoiless Rifle squad. Served with Tom Kessler at Marine Barracks 8th and I Washington DC as ceremonial guard following tour in Korea. I was in the 20th draft and was in Korea from May 6, 1952 to May 9, 1953. I was with the 1st Marine Div. RECON COMPANY and pulled many patrols in front of Reno, Vagus, Carson, The Hook, OP2 and many others outposts.
You guys were an outstanding fighting outfit and one of the very best.

Comments: Served in 3rd Bn/11th Marines (artillery) in support of 7th Marines from Sep 1950 to Aug 1951. I can still remember the cold weather at Yudamni, Hagaru and Koto-ri (won't ever again try to sleep on frozen ground). I'm glad there is a new interest in the Korean War after 50 years. There sure wasn't any interest when I returned to California in 1951. All the Chosin veterans must be in their 70s or 80s now, so their numbers will be declining but, at least in the Corps, their deeds will never be forgotten. SEMPER FI

Comments: At Koto-ri(N.Korea) our "C" Medical Co. was alerted to the casualties soon to be arriving from the Chosin Reservoir, about 11 miles north of us.--The Duty Corpsman at the Medical Entrance was occupied with a patient. His back to the entrance, he heard this loud "CLUMP" "CLUMP" vibrating on his spotless wooden floor.--Too preoccupied to turn his head, he bellowed out, loud-and-clear: "Hey Marine! Take off your crummy boots in the Aid Station"!--The chastised Marine responded in a soft, pathetic voice: "They ARE off Doc"!--(His feet were FROZEN SOLID!!)--HM1 USN (Ret)--Guadalcanal/Korea Alumnus--SEMPER FI!!
