1/7 Situation Report:
2,395 Enemy Forces known to be in this area . The known Units are the 90th Bn. (the most highly decorated unit of the 1st Viet Regt.) The 52nd Bn. & the 3rd Co. of the 80th Bn. Their weapons Include 81 mm Mortars, 60 mm Mortars, 57 mm Recoiless Rifles. Browning automatic Rifles & Automatic Rifles.

1st Bn. Operation PIRANHA Resulted In 90 Dead Viet Cong that were buried in caves or where they died, 16 more Viet Cong were buried where the died or in a mass grave on 8 September. A total of 148 Captives were processed. The Bn. had 1 Marine Officer Killed In Action.

Delta Co. The Point Fire Team came upon 5 VC (1 of whom was armed with a Rifle. A volley of fire killed 2 VC. In the fire fight 1 VC wounded through a hand grenade wounding 3 Marines, The VC was then killed & Marines evacuated. 20:00 hrs.
