| I was a Naval Gunfire Spotter attached to Lima during Operation DeSoto and other operations. I had an extended tour in Vietnam and participated in 23 combat operations, most with 3/7. I remained in the Corps after Vietnam but was medically retired in 1977 because of injuries from of all things -- a damn soccer game in Bolivia. Would you please reattach me to "Lima", I have been away too long. I also served with Mike 3/7 on DeSoto, pulling double duty with both companies. For some reason, "Beans and Weenies" don't taste the same anymore, I think it's because the gunpowder is missing. Would like to hear from any "butt platers" who remember fellow machine gunner Cpl. George Edward McCrobie who was killed in action February 23, 1967 on a sweep along the rail road north of Duc Pho. I have made contact with his sister Judith East in Wheeling, West Virginia and I am trying to put together some information for her. George was a great guy, I miss him.
