Comments: Am looking for information about my brother-in-law, Dr. Victor Stallone, USNR who was a Bn. Surgeon for a 2nd Bn.USMC I do not know what Regt. He said their unit replaced the Turkish Brigade on the MLR and that they were engaged in heavy fighting several days later. I beleive this was in late 52 or 53. If anyone can help me with any information, I would be very thankful, as his children were never told of his war history before his death. Thank you

On June i5th. 2000 I am making a presentation to the Marine Pacific General of a copy of my poem "From The Beach to The Reservoir" It was an honor to have been able to write this poem but it was a very difficult poem to write. It brought back some very difficult memories of 50 years ago. The poem will soon be available. Dr. Kal Kalnasy Las Vegas Nevada. I am looking for some people who served with me in Korea so any one wanting to talk please call. 1-877-309-1032 It's toll free. Semper-Fi

Comments: I was in the korean war, as a USNavy sailor from 1950 to 52 in the korean waters, Served on a Tin Can named USSHANK DD 702 We roamed the yellow sea and the sea of japan supporting the troops with our 5 inch guns, our ship expended over 9,000 rounds of 5 inch rounds, on tanks coming down the eastern shore highway, and destroying radio complexs near the Mongolian border And assiting Marines evacuating Hamg Hung and helped destroy the evacuating base in the harbor ,plus many other dutys that a small ship provides, we where teamed up with a british frigate, not much smaller than our ship, but would go into the shore blazing all there guns at tanks rumbling down the shore roads, sank many mines, and bordered many GooK boats that where using the seas for all kinds of runs, While a ship is made up many men who do different things to make the ship a battle war ship, It in deed, did it share during the war of korea. The navy was a very strong military unit, that sometimes is over looked during this three year period. As a Navy veteran, I look at my time served on the USS HANK as time shared with my fellow soliders. There is indeed many a story of the navy mightin Korea, Therefor I belong to the Hung Sung chapter of the KVA in NJ so that this war is not fogotten , John Keating USN3/c Eng

Comments: While stationed at 1 MARDIV, Camp Pendleton, I presented an invocation and prayer at a ceremony dedicating a memorial to Marine & Navy Corpsmen during the Korean War. In attendance were members of Dog Seven Association, The Chosin Few, and 1st Marine Division Association. At that event, I met many former D Company, 2/7 Marines and was impressed with their stories and history. It was a particular honor for me to have been present and to give the invocation at that event. Many had asked for copies of that invocation and prayer ... and I trust that all who asked, also received! God bless, Chaplain Michael A. Uhall, TBS, MCB Quantico, VA.

Comments: Howdy! Looking for some good ideas for our 50th Anniversary Committee to organize and present to our members, the community and local schools. Being near a military base, we have a large population of retired veterans, plus a growing number of soldiers returning from duty in Korea. As in most veterans organizations we're having a tough time deciding what will interest new members, and encourage veterans to join in. Any suggestions?

Comments: Just finished reading 'Breakout' by Martin Russ. For anyone who has ever served, or might ever serve, with the Corps, this book should be required reading. It is the bone-chilling true story of the young warriors who made the breakout, from the entrapment by overwhelming numbers of Chinese, from the Chosin Reservoir to the sea. As a former Marine myself, I couldn't pass through this site without leaving a message of tribute to those Marines who did, and those who didn't, make the breakout. For everyone of 'The Chosin Few', your courage and fortitude will be forever etched in the minds of your fellow Marines, as the prime example of what it is to be a Marine. SEMPER FI........

Having been a recruiter for four years and a plank owner at Recruiters School, San Diego, I know that young men join the Corps because it is the worlds best trained killing machine.
