Comments: While rummaging through some of my father's old memorabilia yesterday, I came across a NAVMED 210 Emergency Medical Tag Booklet, and found a few names which might be familiar to some of you.
Sergeant Albert Louis Thompson, USMC, DOB: 7-27-28, was treated by HM3 T.J. Fressie, for "Laceration (shrapnel) RT Thumb," on 11-20-51, while a member of George 3/7. Another patient treated by Fressie was Private John D. Taylor, USMC, DOB: 10-20-33, who, on 05 Feb '51 was administered morphine for gunshot wounds to left forearm. Also mentioned are PFC Robert L. Creamer, CPL William R. Christensen, HN Philip Marzolf, PFC Edward L. Murphy, SGT M.C. Barnes, SGT M.J. Williams, SGT T.J. Siva, and HM3 Doyle Powell, all members of G 3/7, treated between 2-51 and 5-52 near Easy Med. Co.
And to the gentleman who contacted me recently regarding wound verification, I'm sorry that I have forgotten your name: I hope that yours' is perhaps one of those listed above. And if not, please reestablish contact with me, and I will seek information through the VA. If you were treated for severe head trauma by my father, I hope the following will help. A member of G 3/7, his name was HM2 Lowell F. "Lou" Leibold. Leibold was a member of G 3/7 between 2-51 and 3-52, and a WWII 're-tread.'
Finally, a very special thanks to the giant men of Dog: this is an excellent webpage, and I deeply appreciate the opportunity to visit.
Idio-ship-sho.

Comments: "The breakout of the Marines," at the Chosin Reservoir, wrote Lynn Montross, "recalled the march of Xenophon and the immortal Ten Thousand as the Greeks cut their way through Asiatic hordes to the sea in 401 B.C. Twenty-three centuries later the U.S. Marines used much the same tactics, allowing for differences in weapons....Never in any past war of our history have Americans shown greater courage and endurance than the "Reservoir Marines."

Have a great day, you men of "Dog."
You earned it!

Comments: I wrote a novel about the Korean War based on my experiences in that war. IN THE SHADOW OF GLORY is about a Marine infantry squad fighting in the outpost battles during the last half of the war. There is no Hollywood hokum in this book. It is an accurate depiction of Marines in combat-- how they lived, how they talked and how they died. The book may be ordered at Amazon.com Barne & Noble or Borders.

This video documents the experiences and training Marines received at Camp Pendleton from the late 1940s through the mid 1950s. Video includes: the formation of the 1st
Provisional Marine Brigade, under the command of Gen. Edward Craig; the brigade's departure for Korea; arrival at Masan; and excellent footage of subsequent engagements.
Video contains numerous interviews with Marine Corps officers and enlisted men about their experiences at Camp Pendleton and in Korea. Includes interviews with Gen. Victor
(Brute) Krulak, Gen. Raymond Murray, and Gen. Carl Hoffman.
Video includes film footage never seen before!
Video also highlights the story of the "Atomic Marines," who participated in the above-ground nuclear tests in the 1950s. There is also a segment featuring "Reckless" the quarter
horse that saved the lives of Marines in Korea and was brought to Camp Pendleton.
Never-before-seen footage includes: Camp Pendleton training in the 1950s; first use of helicopters at Camp Pendleton and in Korea; combat towns at Camp Pendleton; and
cold-weather training at Pickel Meadows (Bridgeport, Calif.).

I am David O'Neills daughter. I am 44 years old. I am very proud of my father. I am only so sorry he cannot see these pictures. He was the most wonderful father in the world. Although he is still alive he really is not with us any longer. He doesn't recognize anyone, however, I bring him a beer and he looks at me and smiles. So I know the old Dave is still in him. I would like to thank each and every one of you for serving in the Marines. Our country would not be as great if it wasn't for you. I'm sure my father would agree and say it was his privilege to serve with you men. Again, thank you and thank you for sharing this website with us. Sincerely, Nancy (O'Neill) Ward

Those corpsmen were Marines all the way. We knew we could always count on these great men who where giving their all to help us when we were wounded, sometimes even losing their own lives in the process. We always knew when we yelled Corpsmen one would show up often with no rifle, but just carrying a medical kit. They have so much to be proud of. I, and my buddies, survived, some to this day, because of men like them. I can never thank them enough
