Hi: I'm a psychologist at the VA here in Chicago. I'm working with Walter "Wally" Smith, a Vietnam vet from 1st of the 7th who is brand-new to the VA and is getting treatment for PTSD. He served in Vietnam from 1/66 to 2/67, was in H&S Co. attached to Delta and Bravo Companies. He has not been in touch with anybody from the unit in many years; for a few years was in touch with Chuck Hausner (who may live in downstate Illinois now) and with Larry Levine (possibly from Ohio). Wally was wounded in a nighttime ambush during Operation Montgomery, in which 8 or 9 guys got wounded, and one was killed. Wally took seven shrapnel hits, and got a Purple Heart from Gen. Louis Fields. (I have a photo of him getting the Purple Heart in his bed at the field hospital, which I will scan and post if anybody thinks they might remember him from the picture.) He thinks he might have been pulled back into the trench line by a guy named John Pope (not 100% sure). He'd like to get in touch with anybody who may remember him, and it would help him out a lot. He doesn't have a computer right now, but you can reach him thru me at the above e-mail address John.Mundt@med.va.gov). We'll also try to check this board in the next few days. Thanks a lot!!
