Hello Gentlemen, I have posted here before but this time I have some more detailed information and desperately need your help. As you may recall, I am looking for anyone that might know something about a captured Radio Tech from HQ3/11 (12 June, 1966). Last night I spoke with another member of this unit and he had this story to tell. All the men in hq 3/11 had been told that my cousin's body was recovered and last night I learned more. Please read on.
Shortly after the RT was captured, a RO from HQ 3/11 was sent to the 2/7 to help out with a night time perimeter patrol. While on patrol, it was learned that some of these men were part of a small squad that was sent to look for my cousin. It was believe that the enemy unit that captured him was still in the area. I have been told that there is/was a Cpl who was also a squad leader with the 2/7 who said this squad recovered my cousin's body and it was very badly mutilated and obviously horribly tortured. This squad leader told this RO from the 3/11 that the body was recovered and brought back to Chu Lai. Unfortunately the RO doesn't remember the name of this squad leader, the only thing he could tell me was that he was African-American. Therefore, if there is anyone here who remembers hearing of the body of a 3/11 Marine being found by your Battalion in June of 1966. PLEASE e-mail me privately at the e-mail given.
