I'm 14, so why is this happening to me?I'm a 14 year old femlae, and my hair began falling out today. That probably sounds dramatic, I know that you lose an average of 100 hairs a day, and that it's perfectly normal to lose hair, so that new ones may grow in, and all of those other informational bits. But I was in the shower today, and after my daily routine of shampooing, running my fingers through my hair, and preparing for conditioner, I realized I had strands of hair in my hands. Figuring that, because I'd just taken my hair from a ponytail, they'd only been loosened by the hair tie, I repeated this process again, with the same outcome. Worrying now, I ran my fingers through my hair again and again, combed my hair, and losing more and more strands. I've done a bit of brief research, and found a few things that could point to a few reasons for my hair loss. (Why so sudden, though?) For starters, I'm a freshman in high school. As if this wasn't enough, I'm going to college in an advanced program in my county. Because of this, my level of stress is extremely high, especially now that I'm doing poorly in two classes. I make myself stay up late every night to do homework and study, and generally finally get in bed somewhere between 2:30 AM and 4:00 AM, rising the next morning at 6:30. Another factor could be my diet. Because of my schooling, I've only been able to make time for one meal a day, in comparison to my previous 3-meals-a-day routine. I eat dinner with my family every night, but skip a lunch to study between class, and breakfast to study (or often, sleep) before. Before I lead to any conclusions that it's stress or my diet that's creating this mess, I'll admit: as far as hair goes, I've committed a deadly sin or two. I was a long-time abuser of heat products, straightened my hair for a little over two years, and teased for the latter half of this period, which led to my hair being dry and broken. I unplugged the heating tools for a while, and have only recently picked them up every once and a while. A few days ago, I tried a hot oil treatment to heal my hair, it was VO5, and I checked the box for warnings, but found none. Could this potentially be a problem? Does this product have a history/bad reviews? The last thing I felt I'd mention was alopecia. I don't know anything really about AGA, but my family doesn't (to my knowledge, everyone in my house is sleeping, mind you,) have a history of having AGA, but I won't rule out the possibility. What could be causing this sudden hair loss? I've never gone through this sort of thing, throughout my years of hair-mutilation, or any time between, so what could have happened? If you have any sort of solutions, please let me know. Serious answers only, please.Post script- I also understand that pregnancy/giving birth can lead to hair loss. I'd like to throw in the fact that no, I'm not pregnant, I'm fourteen, and I'm smarter than that, thank you very much.Post Post Script- If you're 14 and pregnant and reading this, please don't assume that I think you're unintelligent. Perhaps I should just edit that but I won't. I'll just submit it. It's plenty long as it is.Thank you!
