Men, Welcome Home. Thank you, for your service to this Great Nation. Auld Timer , BillT, You are one tough bird and I don't mean a chcekin or a turkey. You welcome them home, while you continue to serve. This old bird provides a picture in my mind, I have seen close-up from the tip of their tail feathers to the top of their whiteheads is more than 3 1/2 feet tall with a wing spread of 8 feet. I have actually seen them play between a mated pair and they will pass up fish to each other while in flight. When Bald Eagles are mature, there will have the white head. But the really neat thing is their nest and the female, the larger of the 2, was the architect. Every year, the pair would come back to the same nest and add to it. They would build them to a size of almost 8 feet high. During the mating season, the female would make the nest as comfortable as possible. When the season was over and it was time to migrate, the young were in for a surprise. Before the parents would leave, the young could fly. There was a point in time when the female pushed the young out of the nest and that nice place of rest, the mother would make it into something like a punji trap. Mom knew just what sticks to pull to make it this way and she also knew how to turn it back into that warm loving place. The important thing is at some point in time, it was time to move on. As I looked at it, there was an object lesson to be learned from the Bald Eagle. I see someone around here teaching those very same lessons.Bill, thank you for all the years of service and tough times for this country.
