I nominate my husnabd Don Geer. While serving in the Marines 2/4 he was in a helo assult company aboard the USS Guam. While doing an exercise he fell 100 ft in France while repelling. He broke both leggs (tib/fib compound breaks), blew out both knees, broke both joints in his jaw, and has three disks injured in his back. He was medically discharged and is 30% disabled. He has had 16 surgeries over the years 6 on both knees. Both meniscus's were totally removed in 1994, the damage from the fall was too great for repair. Upon discharge we had to start our lives completly over and Don went to college. He was told he would never be able to run again. That was in 1988. He struggled with mobility and weight. We have four sons and in 2002 Don decided he was going to do an Ironman no matter what. The training was hard there were days and still are when he needs a cane to walk. Don completed the Lake Placid Ironman in 2004 and beyond all odds has completed 8 total so far He just completed the Florida Ironman with a 14:48:00 time last Saturday. He is a fantastic example to our boys and his local triathlon community that anything is possible with mental toughness and desire. For those reasons I nominate Don Geer
