He was only in country 11 days , we never got a chance to know him very well personally . In his last three days on this earth we got to know who he was and more importantly , what he was. While the rest of us were trying to find cover , he was up , moving from wounded Marine to wounded Marine . I like to think that Doc Hancock was one of God's best creations ..taken from us too soon . In my circle of friends , he's still remembered and talked of . I have a copy of his Navy Cross tucked away . My daughter will inherit it one day so she'll know who he was and keep the memory alive .
