On the Fourth of July 2002, a 30by50 covered pavillion was dedicated in memory of Corporal Larry E Smedley , the only Congressional medal of Honor Recipient from Orange County Florida [ Orlando ] from any war . the pavillion is located on the property of the Vietnam Veterans of Central Florida and the home of the National Vietnam War Museum . this is only the start of things to come . Te honorable Tony Johmnson , USMC spoke of the heroic deeds that leed to the death of Corporal Smedley and the heroic actions that Corporal Smedley took on the night of his death . We are working on several ways to remember Larry Smedley including the naming of anew high school in his name and the hopes of naming a park ,street - or public building in his name .
