| On may 16,1968,2nd plt.,minus my 3rd sqd.,we were seperated by automatic machinegun fire,1st and 2nd sqd were caught in the open field.3rd sqd swung back down the hill and hugged it as close as we could.One Marine,i remember his face but not his name,made it to where i was,all he would say,Charley Hendricks,needed me up there.I could'nt get to him in time,God forgive me,i tried.
