hi, I am engaged to one of your own. Having been 10 yrs old when Jim (Trips) was there with you, learning more about what life was like in the bush has been a major eye opener for me. I am currently reading Dear Mom, A Snipers Vietnam (recommended by my sons best friend serving with the 11th Marines in Iraq) I am learning about the PTSD, the nightmares, the reality of what was once your young lives.

Being in love with one of your own has been a struggle, but so worth the low times. This man was so young and impressionable, having my own son attached with the 1st Marine Airwing in Okinawa, I am just go glad my boy doesn't have to live through what you all did.

I just want you all to know that even though I was young when you were losing your youth to the destruction and obscene use of violence toward you, I was always one of those at home that loved our boys in Nam. Now as an adult, being part of his life, his memories, his recovery, I feel as if you are all my heroes as well.

Being a Marine mom, although he’s not in a line company, and if you ain’t in a line company you ain’t shit....(what would you do without the support guys huh?) I am a Marine Mom to all Marines, former, current and future.

My love goes to all of you and with all my heart, I thank you for losing your innocence all those years ago for us.
