Hill 502

Hill 502 also known as FSB Buckskin located at AT-862660 was used effectively as an artillary position on Operation Oaklahoma Hills.

In Memory of the Fallen

On 14 April 1969 during Operation Oaklahoma Hills a Fox Co. platoon engaged the enemy in concealed bunkers in the vicinity of Hill 1025. Two Marines were KIA [ LCpl. Francisco Licon, Pfc. Michael N. Vitale ] and several wounded during the engagement.

Mountain Rubble

With artillery and air strikes not much remained above ground except huge boulders on the mountains.

The Search

A tunnel entrance where the NVA would disappear for cover when the artillery rained in.

The search went on underground for the enemy.
