While on operation Oklahoma Hills, Golf Co. engaged North Vietnamese Army forces north west of Hill 1025 in Hieu Duc District.

During this engagement the Marine rifle Company sustained several casualties that included LCpl Quarles who was killed in action by enemy small arms fire.
